so is the head of a VE louder than just a de???? while idleing i REALLY hear the injectors ticking....(maybe i hear it more,cuz i highport DE the injectors are farther back???)...... but then i think it sounds like more IN the block/motor........

or then it sounds like a tiny exhsut leak...tiking..

or im just crazy....

Does it get any louder as you rev it up? I personally think your going crazy lol.

sr heads are noisy period lol.. mine had ths issue where it would tick but when you applied pressure to the valve cover near the passenger side it would stop, i think it was my blown motor mount cause i havent heard it in a long time lol

u might need valve lash adjustment, or its injectors... prob injectors

use a screwdriver and locate the noise. this way you know if its just loud inj (most Nissan's have them) or any other issue. my ve is loud at idle but most of it is the cobra inj bringing in extra clicking noises.

Could be the shims...
