my stock sr20de in my b13 revs that high with the jwt ecu... I don't know if it has a rev limit, don't wanna find out...
you sure your tach is right? i have a 8k limit on the ve with n1's right now but my tach reads well over 8k++ before hittin the limiter.. i have confirmed this via nistune also..
I will be revving my VE with stock s/r's to 8K with sr16 cams. 8500 is to high for stock springs and trust me because I had a retainer crack and cause my valve to smack my piston because I was revving to high with N1's but you get the point stay at 8 or under with stock springs regardless of cams. Now if you get s/r's rev to the moon otherwise be very very careful
btw i got lucky found a perfect VE head (traded my N1 cams for straight up, which IMO I think are overated, sr16's are perfect!) and just put a light imprint in the piston, so no damage done, but i learned my lesson.

a soft 8K rev limiter is plenty for me.
From the dyno work ive done, they springs/retainers will accept that sort of RPM. In any case my power starts to drop off well before this point, and my cams are timed at 0,0 straight up! My head is opened up etc though.
Actually I am revving to 8300rpm for the past few days - SR16 non n1 cams and stock s and r. Was planning on going to 8500. Not because I make power but just for drag purposes based on a tranny I will be installing.
Before I went Calum ecu, I was using Greddy emanage with my sr16ve ecu (8300rpm rev cut), with the sr16 cams - stock s and r. I used to rev to 8300 daily without any issue.
Peace
