No need to swap a new engine in. Install an afpr, and get your idle straightened out, and you will pass. This year i passed with sti injectors, and a worn out cat. Got my bluebird setup through the same way.

uhh only problem with that is im suuuper broke lol, it wouldnt cost me anything to swap the other engine in heh...

so i did some testing today an i believe i know why it fails..

heres the run down..

I hooked up the laptop an loaded up my wideband an conzult and i found that a few seconds after it starts idling (after you let off the gas or whatever) the afr's go from 14.7 to 13.6 or lower..

I noticed my iacv hose was collapsed an when i give it throttle it fills up but as soon as i let off it collapses again an since mr. miko mentioned that maybe part of my problem i unplugged it an hooked it back up..

Sadly the same thing happens, goes from 14.7 to 13.6- an for some reason the iacv is working perfectly now no weird part throttle probs, no stalling at stop lights an no up an down irratic idle.. so i left it hooked up..

I tryed to make nistune raise my afrs at idle but nothin was happening.. so gave up there..

Then i got the idea to unplug the o2 sensor.. now heres the funny part... instead of the afrs dropping to 13.6- they rise from 14.7 VERY slowly to 15.6 or a tad more..

So i think the o2 sensor maybe bad..

So should i try to take it through again with the o2 sensor hooked up now that i lowerd my idle from 1060 to like 800 an also hooked the IACV up... OR should i unplug the o2 sensor for the test?

Still gonna change the fuel filter for GP.

Can't you just turn around and go in again? I'd go without the 02 as long as you have a plug. Again same answer... Boneyard on Foster/205 for all your O2 sensor needs.

ya im thinkin about tryin it without the plug cause it holds 14.7 longer then with the plug.. i kinda wanna go for a short drive with the laptop hooked up to the wideband (i dont have a wideband gauge) an make sure it runs at 14.7 while drivin 15-25 steady..

i also forgot to mention i retarded the timing to around 10* according to what i found the marks to be..

Marks on stock VE pulleys are -5,0,+5,+10,+15,+20 an i set it on the 10+ one when it was on the 15+ one..

High idle is actually a good thing for passing emissions. retard the timing and you will pass. I think idle limit in WA is 1100. Their inspection devices are pretty darn inacurrate when it comes to measuring idle. it said mine was 1200 when it was 900 on a scanner. Their device just plugged into my lighter.
