What's the significance in this upgrade please? I have a vague understanding but could I use this as a learning opportunity?

When you have a valve job done the installed height of the valve is higher in the head; requiring a thinner shim in order to maintane proper clearence (lash) between the cam and rocker.

Its just easier for me to use harley vrod shims because there's a dealer a mile away and they keep a decent assortment of shims in stock.
