Lets talk waterpumps..
right..

i have a 16VE water pump and a DE water pump :-

Before we go any further the DE one is the on on the left!!

so ignoring the corrosion.. why does the VE one have such smaller blades?

i remember abit about propellers and the bigger the angle doesn't necessarily mean more movement as if you spin a high angled propeller to fast it just makes bubbles it doesn't move water any quicker..

but that could have nothing to do with the pump design.

obviously it would take more force to spin the DE one but will it work at higher RPMs?

anyone have any ideas about impeller design? and which you would use on a 20VE revving to 8500RPM?

everyone says get a VE water pump but looking at that id have thought the DE would move more water..

smaller fins less turbulence at high rpm

yeah but im not really intending on sitting at 8K for ages few blast up to the rev limit most driving will be DD and mid range stuff so is it better to have more flow?

just wondered why everyone says get an N1 pump

You will be fine with your DE pump unless you are road racing

even with a de pump couldnt you just put a larger pully on it to slow it down for road racing use.

I cant see why you couldnt experiment and cut the de blades down a bit to be like the 16ve ones? Is the angle similar?

It'd be cool to really do some proper testing on the pumps AND he pulley sizes etc etc.

anyone got a pic of an N1 water pump?

the angle are all the same its just the de pupm has the extra fin size,

also on a side not ehte VE one is alot tighter and ahrder to turn.. that may be down to corrosion.

Yeah I would have to think the best pump is the 2.0 w under drive pulleys for a street/strip car

looks like a normal 16VE pump..

maybe you could do a happy medium.. shave the DE fins down a tad so there not as small as the 16's but push abit more water at lower revs..

or just bin the lot and get an electric pump but hey! that costs cash!
