can anyone tell me how far above the oil pan the filter should be? i know that you're not supposed to put it at the same height or lower but i don't really know what a safe height is.

javi, take the oil filter mount from a non-RR SR20DE and swap it on to the VE.
Then you can use any oil filter relocation kit you want that works with SR20DEs.

I'm hoping somebody has found another one that works. Maybe Permacool or Be Cool. Any other suggestions?

Is there anything else I need to look for? I eventually am going to be running an Oil Cooler so if you guys find a kit for both that would be awesome. BTW, I did search the forum only to find scattered info that was unclear.

PLEASE HELP!

thanks

Where is the O-ring? The o-ring does the sealing, not the thread. The thread bottoming out is a guide so as not to overtighten and crush the o-ring.

It does not matter. No way to mount it below the oil pan or above the valve cover. the system is pressurized. What does matter is the size and length of the lines. Also not mounting the filter facing down to avoid the oil draining back into the sump.

Good advice, but eight (8) months late. I would guess he has already figured out the solution. Why bump this thread?

Here's a solution from Greg V:

Well, we were in a rush and didn't have time to come up with another solution. If we did it again, we would use a Non-RR DE oil filter bracket like I'm doing on my VE, LIKE you guys suggested. I actually got excited to see this thread bumped! Not too many threads for Oil relocation "kits" for VE. =P

This was for JerBans VE, we ended up just not relocating it. Next time around, we'll probably tap the block for a cooler, too.

No thread up, just toss me a pm, all ud need to do is swap to a de filter housing.

A will be doing a oil cooler also in the early spring. I will most likely get a similiar kit to what wes has, minus the relocation part.

The O-Ring is in there, just the threading on the adapter aren't deep enough to even let it seal.
