Exhaust
So of course I want performance and for my car to be quiet. So What I was thinking is, I do 3" from the cat and when the exhaust bends to go twards the beam(B14) i was thinking of putting a 3inch dump tube, and after that stock piping and muffler. good idea or what, it will also be sleeper from the rear it will look bone stock and when I open the dump it will let the motor breath. i plan to use one of these but in 3inch.http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/30861/10002/-1

or will it not be tuned correct when the exhaust is closed???

just thinking out loud...

I was thinking the same thing, because not only full 3 inch is loud but hits under the car, its just too big unless you have the tall stock springs and shocks

But that Jegs device is too old school, use some activated by a solenoid and hook it up to your VVL or a switch (if you have...)

More expensive though 3" QTP ELECTRIC exhaust cut out valve : eBay Motors (item 320482963295 end time Feb-08-10 21:16:24 PST)

The thing is I donrt need it open all the time, the jegs thing will just go along vwith my sleeper look. On top of that the electric ones are expenjsive as hell

why would you want cast iron that thing has to weigh a ton. if you do have a cut out tune it with the cut out open because worst case you would be running rich with it closed.

That's the only thing I think that's going to hold me back

But think about it, if there was a magical 3 inch full catback exhaust that made no more noise than the OEM and yielded maximum power, even if it was a cheap ebay one, it would cost at the very least the same $200 or, realistically, even more money.

And the electrical units are not open all the time, they can even be activated with rpm switches like the VVL or nitrous...

I don't mind the mechanical one, my main concern was the tune when the exhaust is either open or closed
