looking for some coments
Would using a smaller diameter tire read more whp? I switched from the 23in toyo's to some 22in Nitto's. Just wanted to know what you guys think about this.
PS: I know the car will not have more whp, but would it read more?

I think you should. Its like shorter gears in tranny, so its possible to have less losses in drivetrain.

Yes it is like having a shorter gear... but what you really need to look at is where your power band is it... your goal is to go through the traps as close to your peak power as possibly....

That said id need to see your graphs. I know we run very simmialr set ups and run very close mphs. My car traps 106-107mph and makes peak power @ 8.5k. And I run 23.4in slicks.

Do the calculations and fine out what rpm your car will be at with your given mph with the 22 vs the 23in tire.

Or just go to the track and try both..

It's all good Cory

So installing an SR16 tranny should do the same too, right?

I might go to the dyno and give the car a few pulls with the Nitto's to confirm this

That would be a nice experiment to try.

just tried it

Same setup. With 23in -> 195whp and got +2whp (197.88whp) from using the smaller 22in tire, so maybe with an SR16 tranny I could get another +3wph??

IMO, I wouldn't be looking at whp but look for trap speeds. There could be a few reasons why the car would read different hp. Like possible temps or different dynos(I'm sure your using the same dyno) such small gains. But hey it all adds up
