Lets just say its geeting to the point that we can make SR24VEs that should make 295-300 WHP on 93 octane pump gas.

Once Cory posts his numbers for the 2.285L VE which is a very small 2.3L motor, there will be no doubt that VE motors can compete with K24 motors.


I am extemly happy that we have one as an example for things to come.

I will be putting in my 2.313 VE next weekend.

That VE certainly has me thinking, and a couple of questions.

Assuming it was built correctly, upgraded whatever was needed, and maintained properly, would (could) a SR24VE be as reliable for a DD as a non-built engine? Or is some amount of reliability/drivablity inherently compromised when building a bigger displacement motor?

IE....Assuming the client/engine-builder had the budget, what is the largest displacement VE that you would recommend for a NA daily driver, that gets hammered (as we all do), and may see a track every once in a while?

^Ok you have my attention again. D*mnit I was set on just going with a basic 2.3L/92x86 and settling for 240-250WHP.

92mm Piston x 92mm Crank = 2.45 ( no problems ) Big money

92mm piston x 86mm Crank = 2.285 ( no Problem Cory's motor ) Poor man setup


You guys need to stop worrying and start building.
