Thread: Is my intake solenoid Working?

I was messing around with the switchover points on my VE, and noticed that I did not hear at all when the Intake Cam kicked in.

I grounded both solenoids individually and both seem to be clicking. I was just wondering if everyone else has the same results.

* While grounding either solenoid 2 idle you could tell a slight difference

Well if they click then yes they are working.. with stock cams its tough to hear the intake switch over a loud exhaust. But w stock ex its loud as hell

Yesterday I turned the Ex cam off, and did a couple of test runs with the intake cam on only. I bearly noticed a difference.

I do have 3" exhaust, and it's quiet for the most part but once the ex cam kicks in, I manage to scare the drivers around me.

Have you made sure the grub screw is holding the rocker arm pivot tube in location. If its spun, the pivot tube wont feed oil to the rockers for high cam fun.

Well I have only poped the valve cover once on my VE. Where is this screw located?

Is it normal for the grub screw to get loose like that?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about that little allen bolt that goes through the rods that the rockers pivot on. There are two rods that run through the rockers and if the bolt came out they could rotate and not let oil into the rocker aswell.. not posotive but I think that's what he's talking about

you have to listen very carefully on stock cams to hear the intake kick if your exhaust is loud.

No, not something to worry about unless you recently replaced the rocker arms, valve springs or remove the cylinder head and forgot to tighten it down.

You can swap over the solenoids(exhaust for the intake) and do the same test.
