true that, the biggest advantage i can see of the ve is the rev factor you can get from them. With the fixed rocker arms its a no brainer which one is gonna handle high revs without worrying about breaking or throwing a rocker arm and ruining the motor.

Asides that i mean it does flow a ton better than a DE does so thats a big plus too. But the work required to make a de rev like that is much more extensive. Not to mention you always have that worried feeling that the valvetrain will screw up. haha

i helped fred for about 3 seasons with his car and the most power he ever made was with the same turbo was at more boost fred was at 35 psi and he only made 522. To add to that besides when he ran the par gearstack we had to change the trans like atleast 5 times a stock trans was only lasting about 4 to 5 runs .

This car is a monster i cant wait to go to the track in the spring

I seen one of those trannys let's just say it's not a pretty sight. Considering about 85% of the people I know have boost this year looks like it's time for me to step my game up as well. I myself can not wait for the track to open this year.

Man this makes me want to go VE+T, but I don't need that much power.

This beast sounds awesome. Good work.

Now, make it AWD.

I'll be going that route when I get sick of 190whp. I figure a basic GTi-R setup will do me just fine at 8-10psi.

yeah i saw that trans fred completely shattered. Like literally shattered the entire trans. haha, I believe that was the one with the PAR gearstack inside. I dont know how the hell he did that. Ive been running my setup on the strip and have yet to ever do that to a trans. Hell ive never even broken a gear on the track. Its always the street that i end up breaking them. Usually when i quick shift into a gear. It doesnt like the shock and the street tires dont have any cusion to them like slicks do.

You would be surprised at how much cusion just running on slicks gives the trans when hard shifting. I would not doubt his B15 trans could take the abuse at the track on slicks, Set the slicks to 8psi or so and run on a 13" wheel so you have a lot of sidewall with 24.5" slicks. Plenty of cusion. Ive done literally 7 straight passes and never broke a thing and thats hard shifting as well. But as soon as i get on the street and hit 4th quick from redline in 3rd BAM!!!!! there goes 4th gear teeth. Same has happened to 3rd gear as well.
