Thread: its possible ? all motor sr20ve RWD or AWD?

im doing a search for an rwd (using odviously a rwd sr20det tranny) or a awd (using gtir tranny) sr20ve . it is possible ? i will like this kind of setup in a datsun 210 or a 510 ???

i will like a project like this . long term project " years" .

i think with both those setups you would have to use either the awd or rwd block with the ve head.

so i would have same comp. with a DE block with VE pistons ?

ya de block + ve pistons + ve head would be the same comp as a stock ve. but if your goin through all that, you might as well put the sr16ve pistons in.. higher comp then the 20ve pistons

But make sure you use a DET block so you get the oil squirters. The regular DE block with a VE head and VE oil pump suffers from too much oil pressure.
Also if you do use 16ve pistons then make sure you notch them to clear the oil squirters.

Not to mention the de pistons do not leave much valve clearance for upgraded cams

I think the largest u can run on stock de pistons is an sr16 cam

The SR20VET engine in the Xtrail is AWD ready. It's expensive and has a turbo and lower static compression that would have to be dealt with, but it would be a great starting point if you can afford it. If you're going to do AWD you need a "narrow" SR20 block from an AWD or AWD-ready car like the Bluebird I believe (or obviously the GTi-R).

Personally I think RWD is a much better idea.

For RWD like everyone else has said, you'll likely want to start with a RWD SR20DE or SR20DET engine (so the transmission will bolt up) and swap on the VE head by doing the work involved.

It's not that easy. RWD SR20DE blocks are really rare (probably cheap though). Because of that, you're probably going to have to go with a RWD SR20DET block and that means new pistons at least because 8.5:1 compression is going to suck.
