Find a 4,75 final drive may still be to small without using slicks all the time,

I read somwhere about a nismo gear set ? think was on this forum,, has any one got any more info?

Or options. Thanks

The nismo gear set is very rare. They don't come up very often. But they are the shit.
The options for the sr16 box are the same as the options for the de trans, because they are both lsd.. as far as state side all we have available now is the mazworx 4.785fd. Which imho makes no sens in a sr16 box. It works much better in a de trans. The sr16 trans has a big gap between 3-4 gear which the de bos does not have.....

Yah thats a prob, i dont want to waste money on a final drive if it will do nothing, 3rd gear itself is just way too long, and the gap is huge to 4th, even 2nd to 3rd could be better, Id rather shorter gears,

If i was to bring the whole box to a place that cuts gears, could they be cut down Being left on the shaft (2nd, 3rd and 4th)? Or would i have to have a shaft re casted ?

You want longer gears 1-3and shorter 4-5 which allows you to have traction down low and short gears up top. So either the 20v 6speed or a de box w 4.785-5.0fd

But 3rd is so long the accelration isnt great? In reality first has enough problems putting down power, but no wheel spin into 2nd, so could easily handle more accelration, very rare id use 4th as is, so wouldnt need it longer, shorter if anything for quicker accelration? and leave 5th as is for a cruising gear?

Getting a De box then means, Buying a diff, and diff drives no?

Car isnt overly powered so after 1st no probs with traction, full exhust with a cluutch and flywheeel

I was just saying longer down low for traction shorter up top that makes for less rpm drop when going thru the gears...the de box is spaced very nicely just way too long of a final drive. So you shorten that up and now you still have a well spaced 5spd with short gearing that's to a very high final drive and shorter tires.......

nearly better buying a honda johnny

for the price of gettin a gti box, the final drive and lsd you prob be able to get a gear set cut for a vzr with nice close ratios

thats what i am doing on my sr16ve box, going running it with 165/50r15 r888s.....hope it makes a bit of a difference, my car will top out in 4th at 115mph. compared with the 133mph it does now in 4th

and even looking there the nismo gears are still too long in think for vzrs, something similar to a honda s80 would be nice, with a shorter 3rd,4th and 5th
