Thread: After swap issues.

Yup, all is working. LOL, there are 3 positive wires that go to the battery, so when I got there, there were 2 8-ga wires going to the positive and the big 2ga cable that goes to the starter was going to the negative. Even I thought it looked right at first, until I saw where it went.

We blew a 30A green fues and the fuel pump fuse, however, the fuel pump fuse kept blowing. I bypassed the stock wiring and checked the amps, which were fine. I think there was a melted wire somewhere.

Secondly, there was NO spark. The external coil setup was being a pain, so I grabbed the VVL distru and hooked it up with its internal coil goodness. First try, I got spark, but the battery was so low, I had to jump it to start up.

Anyway, today, we added gear oil, I checked the compression, timing, TPS, idle. We drove it, the MSS is engaging the cams fine. All it needs is the proper ECU and MAF. Runs strong.

Anyway, poor Ken is sitting outside waiting for a tow. Looks like the front main seal is a-drippin. I told him he can pop a few quarts in and drive it 10 minutes to his house, he doesn't want to risk it. We took both cars out to a meet, noticed there was quite a bit of (what we thought was) power steering fluid. We took a dab and sniffed it, definitely oil. Probably lost 2qts. total, mostly when parked.

Thinking back to ~2006, I'm almost positive the front main seal was the first post-swap repair I had to do on my old VVL. He won't have any issues once he repairs it.

Anyway, if anyone's in the upper St. Pete area, maybe you can give him a hand, he doesn't have any tools or jacks to do that job on his own. I'm pretty busy with work next week and he's still about a 30 minute drive from me.

Justin is the man. And he is one of the only people I trust touching my car. He is very knowledgable and I do not second guess anything he says or does. Except drive my car home tonight with the oil leaking lol. Thanks for everything Justin.

Yep, that's always on the list when doing a JDM swap of any kind. Ken will be back up & running in no time...

always update seals and gaskets. do it right or do it twice and if you dont have time to do it right the first time how are you going to have time to do it again.

Those are my sayings i live by with these damn cars.
