he says he for sure did the e60 maf - what the hell then, if it's a small leak, why would unplugging the maf make it run soo much better?

He said that a code 12 means the ecu is either recognizing 0V or 5V - and to check wiring - I have checked continuity on the ecu side to the plug and they are correct.

Just to make sure I got this right, from the e60 (95-99 maxima maf)
Red - 12V
Black - Negative
White - 5V read

b13 wiring
Orange outside sheathing - 12V
White inside sheathing - Negative
Orange inside sheathing - 5V read

as per this thread:
http://www.sr20-forum.com/howtos/9138-nissan-maf-wiring-dummies.html

correct?

95-99 Maxima MAF

Positive wire is RED
Negative wire is Black
5 volt read wire is white

91-94 SER MAF

Positive wire is Orange
Negative wire is White
5 volt read wire is Orange (inside grey sheild

So yes you are correct

You check your TPS? Also make sure your maf is facing the right way

maf is indeed facing the correct way - no I didnt check the tps but why would a right running maf and a wrong running tps cause issues like this when unplugging the maf causes it to run better? I somehow doubt it - provided the e60 maf is the 95-99 maf, I have no other clue as to why it doesn't seem to wanna go for me.

Just throwing things out there. I think you need to redo the maf wiring because thats the only thing that can be causing it or a different tune

My car ran like complete crap without regrounding it. Have you tried that?

Clear the 12 code, then turn ignition off for at least 5 seconds, then on again (do not start engine). Wait at least 6 seconds. If the 12 code is then set again, the MAF is failing for high voltage (over 4.9V) and you may have a wiring issue. If the code is set only after running the engine, the MAF is failing for low voltage (below 1.0V).

You might have the 12v and signal wires on the wrong pins.

with the flow arrow point this way ----> it goes power, ground, signal

perhpas this might help?

and yes, the tps voltage is at .46, right within spec.

as you can see from the original photo, the voltage fluctuates nicely with the rpm's - the first spke stalled, I restarted it, and when it revs at a constant speed, you can see the maf voltage looks good.

hmm for some reason when i was running the car later today after clearing the code 12, it never came back, but my ign timing as per the calumsult software said 44 degrees when I had my foot on the throttle to keep it running - with constant pressure on a specific point on the throttle, the rpms went from 2k to 3k and cycled up down up down up down. ideas?
