Arrg!
I am having the dickens of a time sourcing where to splice into on the harness for the tach signal for my 8969 msd. here's some photos:

Now, I read somewhere that the blue with orange stripe wire is it, but in my fsm that is the engine coolant temperature wire. I can't find ANYWHERE on the eccs wiring diagram where it says ANYTHING about 'tach signal'. Can anyone simplify it for a stupid person like me? Thanks guys.

In case that you are talking about a B13 harness the wire is blue with black stripe. If i where you you should look on the part off the mass of wires and look for part of the harness that is divided in a little bunch of wires directed to the driver side and there you should be able to find it and splice it easier because that wire is directed to the cluster RPM TACH. Good Luck

On a B13 it's pin #2. Color is listed as "L/B".

found it! perfect - now just have to wire it up, finish making my cold air intake, and we're golden. I've been pretty happy with how everything is going so far, nothing too rough other than that one slightly stripped bolt on the pp.

Quick question for wiring up the solenoids, how can I tell which wire is ground and which is power? I know they are interchangable but that's only if you know which one is ground on each. Any help on that one would be awesome.

In my case i installed the MSD inside of the car to have easier control of it in case i needed to change switch points. Well i just bought a new universal relay and steal the signal from the sun roof relay because is something that its not always in use and no problems by now. Here's a diagram i made of how to wire the MSD 8969. Good Luck!

one last question before I fire it up - chriscar's writeup states there are 2 temp sensors to swap over when doing the b13/ve swap - I did the ect sensor, but what is the other one he's talking about?

i believe you have to do the oil pressure sensor also (i did) but theres 2 water temp sensors, they're right next to eachother, one for the ecu an one for the gauge in the dash, use both from previous motor
