SR16VE exhaust ports
Pulling my exhaust manifold off my sr16ve N1 the other day i noticed that the exhaust ports are the exact same size as my GTIR head....

I was under the impresion that VE's in general had larger exhaust ports.... im sure i read that somewhere on the other forum..... So im confused.

Does the GTIR head have the same size exhaust ports as a 2.0ve head (i dont think so)? Or does my N1 sr16ve have the same size exhaust ports as a GTIR/sr20de head and the sr20ve head got the larger ports?

Or am i just on drugs and they are all the same?

The reason i ask is i installed a ssac 2.5" on my N1 and the manifold flange ports were frikin huge and matched the supplied gasket perfectly but not the n1 head. The car feels quite a bit peppier with this manifold intrestingly.

the ports are not larger! they are just offset. they are positioned slightly different from ve to de.

Oh i must of been thinking of the intake ports and got mixed up.

On the ssac headers does anybody know if any of the ones currently on ebay have the correct size manifold flange to fit ve ex ports?

The VE exhuast ports are a little bit higher than the DE.

Edit: Check out how Dre fixes the problem. http://sr20-forum.com/showpost.php?p=14467&postcount=13

This ebay manifold i received must be a revision or something then because the flange ports are atleast 2mm bigger all the way round than the factory gasket.

I overlayed the ebay gasket and the factory gasket and it showed that it is level with the top so no need to port this one here. Its just to big everywhere else i think.

The ebay gasket matches the ebay header pretty good to.

This isnt a big deal to me maybe one day ill go back and tig the bottom and sides of the manifold and report it to match.

Yes, the ports on the header are larger than the ports on the head. But it's still optimal that the header is raised a tad, so the ports line up better.

you dont want exhaust tubing to match the head, look up "reversion" if you want to know why.

But you want to step up in size not down? Correct?
