Don't forget, you will need to get the spring seats and shims(the ones on the head) for the dual springs setup.

so people who have been buying supertech springs have more or less been wasting money since the race ones are only 7lbs more than standard?
Or do the supertechs have a higher seat pressure?

Can the springs be installed without taking of the head on the VE?

yes you can. you need to keep the valve from falling. most people use an adapter to put a compressors air into the combustion chamber. then use a spring removal tool/procedure to replace each spring and retainer.

Here's the ranking based on the seat pressure.

N1
Seat pressure: 43.55-46.34 lbs
Open pressure: 140.76-149.44 lbs

20V
Seat: 47 lbs
Open: 158 lbs

20V outer with 20VE inner spring (theoretical)
Seat: 63 lbs
Open: 198 lbs

20VE/16VE
Seat pressure: 60-68 lbs
Open pressure: 138.22-152.61 lbs

Franklin: 73 lbs (seat)

Supertech: 100 lbs (seat)

Supertech: 130 lbs (seat)

Franklin quoted me 354lbs per inch
I don't know what they mean. Per inch of spring height? When, it means 354lbs Valve Open pressure.

Robert, minor changes to your data because of FSM quotes open pressure at different spring length for different engines (because of different camshafts I think).

Open pressure per inch of spring length.
16VE/20VE
139-153 lbs
N1
145-154 lbs
20V
149-168 lbs
20V + 20VE inner
187-211 lbs
