the ve swap is easy... infact i think i only had to buy a few things, like the hose adapter for the heater.. other then that i pretty much just used all the stuff from the de that i needed.. like the iacv and temp / oil pres sensors / de dizzy, coil an ignitor chip. you could basicly bolt a ve into the place of a de with no problems.. you can even make it use the stock air box, but the egr crap on the manifold has to be capped off..
its all the goodies that cost an arm and a leg, like i/h/e, vvl rpm switch, ecu and clutch kit.. thats just for starters..
then theres the things that need to be modifyed if you want to use them, like the power steering pump needs notched so the hose clears the oil filter.. takes like 30 seconds with a grinder.. then theres the de dizzy if you wanna use it the grinder will take that bottom leg off pretty quick, an really u only have to get half way through it then u can use your palm (but its prolly hot!!) so use a hammer or something an give it a few taps an it'll fall right off, then you can clean the cut up a bit with the grinder to make it look nice.
or if you want to use the ve dizzy then see this thread here:
http://www.sr20-forum.com/ve/24298-how-wire-ve-distributor-b13-b14-engine-harness.html
the way i did it i didnt have to make a single cut in the harness..
the grinder comes in handy a 3rd time, this is for the throttle cable, just take the ve bracket and grind out where it mounts to the manifold theres a little hump on it that needs to be flattend out so it sits flush against the manifold, then botta bing botta bang the cable works perfect.. a little bit of adjustment an your good to go!
thats all i can really think of off the top of my head, but maybe it'll help someone.
