just run a few things by you vvl heads
hey folks. im planning a VE build on my eGT primera asap, but i would like some info, well more a confirmation to make sure that the build is good.

right heres the plan.

sr20de bottom end, std rods, but sr16ve pistons, 16ve oil pump and a lightweight flywheel.

sr16ve head, n1 cams, std springs and retainers and valves.

im hoping to aim for 210 at the fly.

also what thickness head gasket should i go for? i see a lot of ones that are 87mm, but the stock bore is 86 whats the point of this?

thanks

Is that piston/valve clearance going to be a problem? DE crank and rods with N1 cam and 16ve pist0n might be tight. I havent had a VE for awhile though but thats my gut reaction.

now that you mention it, i have heard of this before myself.... that the standard rods may be a bit too long......

what about eagle rods? does anyone know if theyd suit?

No man not different rods. The options are to modify the pistons for more valve clearance and/or run a thicker head gasket. Maybe stiffer valve springs too.

yeah probably a cheaper option... whats the std head gasket thickness do ya know?

VE head on DE block with SR16 pistons will be around 13:1 compression ratio too

theres a name i recognise! hi dan

so about the compression thing then, what would be reccomended? should i go for a thicker head gasket and get the pistons machined for valve clearence?

also dont a thicker head gasket put more strain on the chain?

Both.

I guess it could on the chain depending on how thick. The chain should naturally have enough slack for a slight modification.

What about n1 pistons? CR should be lower.
