Guys,

N1 pistons runs perfectly with N1 cams, regardless the head shaved 1mm, so valve 1mm closer to piston. Right? And AFAIK N1 piston notches are the same as on 16VE piston.

As soon as piston to deck clearance on 16VE pistons are the same as 20VE pistons - we have no problem running 16VE pistons with N1 cams.

As I measured some days ago, with 16VE pistons in TDC you have ~5,5mm of valve lift. I think this is enough clearance to be safe.

Regarding springs, I think you should go with stock springs if you're in tight budget.

If you have enough money - just buy N1 springs and retainers.

- They are produced to run with N1 cams.
- The springs are SOFT. The 20VE much stiffer.

But do you need another mechanical losses in your valvetrain if you will be safe enough with N1 cams/spring/retainers also?

They are FACTORY designed to run in combination one with other.

Also I think N1 cams/springs/retainers have tested to not have harmonic resonances.

So running a rwd sr20det block and crank, with eagle sr20det/de rods with a sr20ve head and sr20ve CP 12.5:1 cr pistons would be 12.5:1? If so, that would be great for me, but Im questioning it because if all pistons result in the same c/r weather ve/de block/rods/head etc.. Then why wouldnt CP advertise those 12.5:1 pistons as ve/de pistons? As in, the highest c/r pistons they advertise for the de is 10.5:1, but if all of the pistons were interchangable retaining said C/R, than de guys could run the CP 12.5:1 ve pistons and retain 12.5:1. Something does not make sence. Anyone know if the ve rod is shorter than a de rod?

Well I checed rod length and its the same VE= 5.366" DE=5.360". So now it realy doesnt make sence. The only thing I can now come up with is the (I dont know what is called) dome volume of the head is different. In other words, the volume above the block is defferent between the heads.

Actually thinking about it, thats got to be what it is. Stroke is the same beween cranks, rod length is the same, pistons are interchangable leaving equal piston height. The only differnece is the head chamber volume of the de head being less than a ve head thus higher c/r if using ve pistons. So it looks like I will be getting the 12.5:1 cp pistons for my de block with ve head and retaining 12.5:1.
