Greddy MSS as a rev limiter
I have found many questions about 8000+ rev limiter for our cars, so take my know-how! ;-)

Have Greddy MSS in your car?

Join your VVL solenoids together to use just one MSS channel and wire your MSS second channel to cut ignition signal from ECU. Cheap and fully adjustable rev limiter! Tested on 3 VE engines here with excellent results!

Moderators, make it sticky.

this should help with miss shifting .....

could you post some pictures of of the power transistor, and which wire you tapped into.

you should cut thin white wire.

Post up pics of the wire please.

I am going to do this! Get rid of my MSD box that throws on my check engine light.

Also, could you add in here the settings for the MSS to get it to keep the switch normally closed. Mine is set to normally open.

i have thought of this for a while, either cutting ignition signal or injector power. I dont know which would be better to tap, Cutting ignition would cause fuel buildup in the cylinder and might cause a bad stutter. Cutting injector supplied power should make for a smoother cut but could lead to a lean spike at the rev limiter.

What do you guys think, I was thinking about doing this on my buddies VE.

Very nice.
Thanks.

sorry for the offtopic but from where you guys are getting the Greddy MSS?

if it works fast enough you could also make a two step launch control using a greddy mss using the same method.

Hook it up the same way, have switch or push button that is connected as a bypass to the relay so that with switch or button off it would use the mss to cut ignition as a launch control then when you launch hit the button or switch to bypass the relay and keep normal signal going to either your ignition signal or injector signal.

Simple wiring and electrical know-how can go a long way, haha

ashtonsser,

I thought cutting the injectors too. But I think cutting the ignition is the safe way. No fuel buildup in combustion chamber because of high revs, the fuel will pass thru it the straight way to exhaust. Mine is a straight 80mm tube, so I don't mind about catalyst or anything in there. Also I think it's good to cool the combustion chamber a little with a fuel.

I have run lean on fuel-cut limiter before. You can actually see my dyno graph starts to lean out. This lean condition can cause detonation!
