VE wont rev past 3K????(limp mode)
Well it all started like this.....I was hooking up a amp and wanted to hear the stereo (BTW it sounded PHENOMENAL)when I connected the wiring and the power wire hit something sparked and after that the car would start but won;t rev past 3k?

I was think ing I fried my ecu and actually still do, even though I smelled nothing and see no burn marks on the ecu. I am in the process of getting another made with a new daughter board, so we will see. I did check all fuses, and swapped mafs and still same result? Anybody have any other ideas????

But did you actually check it with a voltmeter?

try disconnecting the batteries and toot the horn or flash the headlite to get out any residual voltage....wait about 10 - 15 minutes then reconnect...... had an issue like this once.....

yea first thing that comes to mind is maf, i replaced the starter in my gf's g20 the other day and when i was almost done (just hookup the air cleaner an stuff up) i had to run inside to use the bathroom so i ask my friend to finish up for me (he has an se-r an should know what to do) well the next day when my gf went to go to the store she came in the house freakin out sayin her car doesnt run lol... well i go out there an it wont rev past 3k an has a hard time stayin running... turns out he didnt plug the maf back in..

anyway i'd check it with a multimeter just to be sure

TPS sensor? Maybe reset the ecu with a screwdriver.

If it is in limp home mode then you should have a code. Best bet is to hook up a consult interface and check for codes then check the sensor readings. The problem should be pretty obvious at that point.

If you don't have a consult interface then use the screw on the ecu to retrieve the codes.
