It kinda makes you wander why EVERYONE who swaps VE's into their cars doesn't just keep the CORRECT VE distributor instead of cutting off the lower mount to make the DE dizzy work on the VE head. It's so much easier to just wire up the VE dizzy and save yourself the headache and worry of breaking your "custom" distributor. Then you have to re-modify the new distributor when your "custom" one dies...

I would just do like I did and wire the VE dizzy into your harness. It's simple, clean, and works like a charm.

Last time I checked they dont sell caps and rotors for a VE distributor at autozone. Thats one of the reasons. Another is, lets say the dizzy takes a crap on you. Where and how long will it take you to get a VE one? Also the price. You cant compare the cost of a VE dizzy to a DE one.

Me for example. I daily my car. I cant have the car sitting for a month waiting on a VE dizzy when I can get a DE one for $35 local and already modded for a VE

I disagree, if you know what you are doing, it makes no difference at all unless you intend to sell that harness

They may not sell them at Autozone, but GregV sure does. I bought my VE cap and rotor from him when I was installing my VE. AND he even sells distributors. They may not be $35, but they're brand new OEM. And no, you can't compare the cost of a brand new OEM VE dizzy to a used DE.

You don't have to chop the harness. If you really wanted to, you could just pull the pins out of the plugs and swap them over to the VE dizzy plug. All that you really have to do is cut the ends off of the wires and solder them into the wires on the VE dizzy plug. It's not rocket science and you don't have to be a brain surgen to wire it up. And if you take your time and make sure that you do it cleanly, then you'll never notice that you swapped plugs. You can't tell that I changed out the plug in my picture of my car above.

Miko is another good source for VE parts. There are plenty of good places to get VE parts that won't require you wait a week or more.

And hell, if you're trying to sell the harness, it would probably be easier to sell the harness if it was already wired up for a VE, especially since most people are swapping VE's into their cars anyway. You could probably even make money making harnesses especially for the VE.
