That would probably involve drilling and tapping into the intake manifold. I'm sure it's possible, but would it be worth it?

Just retrofitting a working AIV makes a big difference in emissions. What you have to do is swap in a header with AIV fitting (if you are not already running one), add the valve apparatus, and activate it with a vacuum hose from your intake (bypass the solenoid).

This is for testing purposes only, I did not run this setup for extended periods.

I passed again yesterday. This time I had a Nistune ecu tuned for power and it ran cleaner on the CO and NOX. I did mess with the AFR ratio around idle and slightly above since it had a rich ratio when I brought it up on my laptop. The HC's were right at the limit, which a little timing in that area could help reduce them since my NOX were practically non-existent.

Thank you sir. It sure beats having to pay for a "special" smog.

I hope I can do the same with the P10 next spring.

All I can say is F Emissions testing. I run open 3" downpipe out the bay, no emissions anything on the vehicle and I dont get a second glance. hahaha I love places with no emissions testing. In my opinion any car getting 30 mpg or more shouldnt be required to do emissions testing, hell any 4 cylinder for that matter. Its all bull crap.
