VE-t swap into gtir issues
Iv swapped a ve engine in to a gtir but am having a minor issue with it the car is up and running but it has a throttle hang issue (it is not a mechanical issue with the throttle cable or anything like that).

What happens is when you rev it up the revs hang at whatever you release the throttle at for a ridiculous amount of time like 3 seconds or so (three seconds may not sound much but it is when your trying to make a smooth gearchange).

I think its either ecu tuning or a problem with how i may have routed some hoses around egr possibly. Im running a sr16ve ecu reprogrammed with a sr20ve base program for z32 maf and 550cc injectors. I have only just started working though the tuning side of things as i need to get the wideband installed properly. It idles perfectly and drives o.k other than the rev hang.

I know some of you guys must have had this problem aswell how did you correct it or some of you possibly havent?

I may try using a sr16ve program and retuning that to suit the maf and injectors.... i probably went about that the wrong way now that i think about it but really to me it shouldnt make a difference.

how did you mount the ve to the gti-r tranny, did you have to do some grinding to the block near where the transfer case mounts?

your cable might be sticking due to the car not being moved in a while.

i thought i was pretty clear on it not being anything to do with the throttle or throttle cable. Im absolutly sure its nothing to do with it.

Yeah i grind the block and transfer.... its quite a mission actually to get it to fit.

Iv found if i put a pair of vice grips and restrict the aac valve line to the intake it runs alot better and it doesnt hang!

So im going to make a restrictor say 2-3mm to go in that line and see what happens.

It is moving ALOT of air through that line. Seems like more than my sr16ve n1.

Anyone have any theorys on why this is?

I have cleaned and checked the aac and the other thing attached to it.

I am getting readings through consult of aac percentage but i havent taken note of it.. i will look at it next time.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but do you have any pix of how much you had to grind it to fit?

I dont have pics.

This guy has a good discription.

I found i had to grind a fair bit on the transfer and the around where the upper pan bolts on. For the gearbox to be easy to remove you really need to grind a quite a bit off otherwise its quite a struggle to get the box and transfer on in one go. Also one bolt hole is not there on the bellhousing but a rotary file will sort that out and you should be able to get half of it located.

The pics in that thread are a bit deceiving as there is alot around behind the bellhousing area on the back of the block to remove and grind for the gearbox to slide on smoothly.
