I am running a VET and have not had a failure using the stock 20v metal headgasket with arp studs. It is personal choice though. the stock bolt will work fine, but I plan on pushing the arp studs to there limit to see really how much they can handle before lifting a head. If you are going NA which you are, use what you got. You won't have any problems.

Think about this conceptually

Why would you need ARP anything? Are the mains, rod bolts or head bolts the place where most SR's fail? There are people with completely stock motors and a turbo pushing 240whp and more importantly way more torque than you will ever make that haven't needed to replace these things.

Stock parts are made for 200k+ miles and can handle the power you are going to make...why complicate matters?

You want a simple reliable build, just make sure you are being simple and reliable.

I suppose I could prolly trade/sell the main and head studs. The only reason for wanting to use them was because i already have them sitting around. but in my limited experience, I have seen more rod bolts fail due to high RPM's then anything. i definatly want to use the ARP rod bolts.

For 300 dollars, do you want to risk your motor failing? I built a ve-t studded with ARP bolts, multiple track days at 20 psi and i don't sweat a bit. i would be with stock rod bolts, that is for damn sure.

did u use the main studs? if so, did u have to align hone?

Yes i used arp main studs for the de in my ve block. I also used the de girdle and de 8cw crank, no align hone. Everything went together perfect and is still running fine.

ARP fubared the design of the SR20 heatstuds, dont use them, sell them onto someone else... all other locations ARP is a good buy. skim the head a bit to bring the cr up from 10.3:1, and use the calum realtime to get the tune spot on.

Yea, there is really no need for the head studs with your setup. Might as well sell them off and get some cash.

my motor is far more built and will make more power than this guy ever will the stock rods are fine and the stock head bolts are fine.

I have a friend with a lowport stock with s3 cams and a t3/t4 turbo running mild boost making 240whp and has been for over 5 years.

he has a stock motor making stock power his stock rods and bolts won't fail from stress or fatigue.

let me ask you this, why risk your motor with stock arp bolts when you could have upgraded to carrillo rods? i did
