been thinkin about this 295whp figure which seems staggeringly good for a stock intake mani and n1 cams, although i believe the heads had a fair bit of work, and a hot, custom header used too....

but realistically, how much effect can the headwork and header be having while the stock IM is restricting flow? albeit not too badly restricting it to pull 295hp!

But i more mean like, surely the headwork and header maybe not be coming into play or to their full potential while the intake is still stock, after all surely the engine and header can only work with the air its getting in for starters

obviously i understand it's gonne be helping but i guess my question is, and a difficult question to speculate on, what kinda figure does anyone think this would have pulled on a stock intake and unworked head?

just to my lame brain logic it would seem that the headwork and header will only come into their own with the custom intake too, so if a 2.4ve could pull anything like 295whp on an unworked head and stock intake i just think it's amazing

but then, i know very little so please feel free to flame me :P

The N1 cam is the largest cam that can be used on a stock IM/TB for a setup with this displacement.

When using a larger cam (184c etc,) with the stock IM/TB you will make alot less HP than you would with the N1's of 16v cams. The stock stuff simply cannot provide enough flow for the increased displacemt& larger lift cams. The motor WILL go into vacuum under load above 3000rpm.

I dont think the #'s are that far off from normal.

Stock IM 2.0's with N1's are making 205whp.

Figure 18-20whp for every .1L of displacement.

Thats ~80whp going from the 2.0 to 2.4.

yeh but while thats true i wasnt really thinking about the cam choice, imo n1s do an awesome job - those overlays of your 2 graphs recently show how close the curve is until the restrictions stop yours at 7k odd.

I was more getting at the ability of the headwork to add much while the stock IM must be providing some kind of restriction.

But i guess i just answered my own question, the hedwork was obviously working well with the stock intake until that 7k mark when perhaps the stock intake restricted it.

But again, silly question, what kinda number would you think you woulda had with stock intake and stock head?

EDIT: just seen your second post. so all the custom work, intakes will be what take it from 280odd, to the insane 300+ numbers.

Makes sense now, thanks man.

and woah didn't realise it would be near 20whp per 0.1l, i was thinking it worked more along 10whp per 0.1l given the 2litre/200whp kind of bench mark

It holds the same power until 8k. Just no sense to rev that high for what I was testing.

ah ok, that seems awesome to me, the stock intake able to flow enough for 295whp all way to 8k

cannot wait for the next step with your custom intake man

The header has a larger impact on overall power gains until a certain point. That point I have reached at 294 HP. If I go to the standard 2L header used before I would make about 240+ HP.
