i posted a similar questiion on a VVL forum and the responses pointed to the fact that a disconnected 02 sensor would keep the car in close loop (safe mode). Would this safe mode limit revs?

o2 sensor will only be a factor when cruising, so I dont THINK that is your problem.

If you think the car is in safe mode then you need to check:

1. Coolant temp Sensor

2. TPS

3. AFM.

safe mode will mean the car will run richer than the norm...thats all [for the o2 sensor that is]

car will drive without an O2 sensor i ran mine for a month wihlst i got around to extending the wires for it..
