No one has addressed this issue yet. You have so many, it got missed.

Prothanes are your best bet for price/performance. I consider them, or a suitable substitute (Place Racing, JWT), a "must have" modification for our vehicles.

Every single time anyone states in a post "my friend said...." it turns out their friend was clueless.

10:1 motor
Hey man there is nothing you car do. The VE just gets spanked by the 10:1 motor. I would probably pull the VE and get a 10:1 motor. After all the 10:1 motor makes a mere 5hp more than the 9:5-1 motor.

On a serious note. Shawn B is right. MSD RPM activated switch, Calum Basic computer with no rev limiter, Maxima Maf, JWT Maxima pop charger, Header and exhaust. The car will introduce bus lengths to the DE

You have a ve and your friend has a de, yet he is telling you how to set up your ve?

If you cant get a whole of a chipped ecu, use your stock ve ecu, ve maf, 2.5 or 3" exhaust, JWT Pop or other type of pop caharger, get a rpm switch (Greddy MSS, MSD RPM Switch, Vtec Controller, Granatelli Switch) and try switching at between 4800 to 5100 rpm.

If you are using a DE header, make sure it's port matched for your motor, especially if it's the older types.

I dont think you need a programmed ecu to beat your friend red top de. Even with a 7200 rev limit he should be easy food for you.

Otherwise please get your car sorted out properly.

Peace
