They both put down right at 180-183 whp at the Convention. In front of my eyeballs.

I *wish* the dyno-operators had time to get my Classic (I/H, stock exhaust, URacing Pullies, and Stillen flywheel) on the dyno at the same time. I don't have cams, but none-the-less, Jerry's car would have walked away from mine in any straight-line speed contest.

I am *guessing* that I will make a 40-50 whp jump when I drop in a VE that has an I/H/E and Calum basic tune. All with OEM reliability.

If you are disappointed with a VE in a B13 or Micra, you are doing something wrong, have something messed up, or you are a power freak and should have gone Turbo (DET, DE+T, VE-T) in the first place.

Hey Shawn I think this is funny. Just an FYI I own Jerry Eads old car now. I also built Andrews maroon b13 and that was my daily driver for a long time. The car had stock cams when you seen it Shawn and I buil it on a very tight budget. If you think a 10:1 motor is going to compare to a VE that is set up right... You are thinking crazy. And someone posted bus lengths and that is a good way to put it. A de is a good motor but its no VE. Anybody with a bolted DE that wants to try a VE with I/H/E just come my way and I will introduce bus lengths... BTW Shawn its good to see you post and how have you been?

I should post up a vid of my old VE car vs my rallycross car in a "drag race" at the SuperSpeedway.. It is humorous.

Stock VE cams. I/H/E only. Basic chip (Calum I think) but no serious tuning whatsoever.

I grilled both him and Jerry about the modifications. Both had a "cone type" intake, one had a Fuji, one had an SSAC. Both had exhausts (don't remember the diameter) and a Calum basic chip (I think....).

I was an "inquiring mind" because I am thinking the same set-up would be SWEET in my Classic. Nothing special, nothing fancy, not even cams and there was Zero Doubt that both cars were much, much, faster in a straight line.

Same with Chriscar's B13. I/H/E only, VE motor, no aftermarket cams, basic chip - no serious tuning. Waaaaay more whp than my DE, although he has not dyno'd his car.

I've *probably* got about 135-140'ish whp. Jumping up to 180'ish whp should put a big-ass grin on my face for quite a while.

^Good deal. I wasn't 100% sure on the cams, that's why I said he might need to chime in. I know he mentioned SR16VE cams on the ride to the dyno. Again the car pulled could and it is clean.

^Key phrase, "set up right". I think everybody in here knows that a DE is no VE. Forum post get taken out of context a lot, but it is what it is. There are some many different variables and scenarios this discussion can be on going. Again VE is a better engine, yes.

^ Na not really. Ok i say it like this... A VE set up right will run and hide from a de set up right.

A Ve that just runs will just plain out run a De... How do I know?? I have a VE with I/H/E and a 10:1 DE with every bolton imaginable. The VE owns...

With that said the DE is rather fun to drive. And Marcus like I have told you before a fun car is always as fun as a fast car.

^^^X2... My VE sits in my garage more often than not, and it obliterates my full bolt-on 10:1 DE but I have as much if not more fun just toolin' in the DE. Remember how much fun the SE-R was to drive completely stock? Bought my 94 brand new and man it was a blast to drive back then. The VE now? Jail bait, cop magnet.
