What are you comparing the 16/20ve with, for you to say that you are disappointed?

They sure are better than the Sr20de, so maybe you are comparing it to Honda K20 motors, in terms of options.

My sr16ve raped slightly modded sr20de.

Dont know about what prevails where you are located, BUT, but MY SR20ve with i/h/e and sr16ve cams will KICK THE $HIT OUT of ANY HEAVILY modded SR20 de here in Jamaica in same chassis!

I have seen a friend of mine with stock 20ve made 183hp and very highly modded 20de with even High CR 16ve pistons, cams etc made 158hp.

So you probably dont even need after market cams...

Peace

@ Morgans432,

Dont mean there is no bolt on. I mean he has not pulled his motor... That's why I didnt say BONE stock.

Calum basic ecu, 3" exhaust, header, and flywheel. He is on this board - forum name is Thor so you can see his mod list in signature.

Peace

I have seen a friend of mine with stock (EDIT: I/H/E tuned) 20ve made 183hp and very highly modded 20de with even High CR 16ve pistons, cams etc made 158hp.

Agreed.

Andrew and Jerryeads both have VE's with I/H/E only. Maybe a Calum basic chip, I don't remember. However, neither gentlemen had any kind of "custom tune on a dyno." One of them had an SSAC, one had a Fuji. Stock VE cams in both vehicles.

They both put down right at 180-183 whp at the Convention. In front of my eyeballs.

I *wish* the dyno-operators had time to get my Classic (I/H, stock exhaust, URacing Pullies, and Stillen flywheel) on the dyno at the same time. I don't have cams, but none-the-less, Jerry's car would have walked away from mine in any straight-line speed contest.

I am *guessing* that I will make a 40-50 whp jump when I drop in a VE that has an I/H/E and Calum basic tune. All with OEM reliability.

If you are disappointed with a VE in a B13 or Micra, you are doing something wrong, have something messed up, or you are a power freak and should have gone Turbo (DET, DE+T, VE-T) in the first place.

^I think andrew had sr16ve cams in his VE, but the car would still move out with stock cams I'm sure. He would have to chime in to confirm this though. I rode to the dyno in his car with him.

Go ahead and put the ve in.You will like it better even if you had a built sr20de.

Maroon B13? Young kid, kind of tall and thin? Delivers pizza, really fast?

Stock VE cams. I/H/E only. Basic chip (Calum I think) but no serious tuning whatsoever.

I grilled both him and Jerry about the modifications. Both had a "cone type" intake, one had a Fuji, one had an SSAC. Both had exhausts (don't remember the diameter) and a Calum basic chip (I think....).

I was an "inquiring mind" because I am thinking the same set-up would be SWEET in my Classic. Nothing special, nothing fancy, not even cams and there was Zero Doubt that both cars were much, much, faster in a straight line.

Same with Chriscar's B13. I/H/E only, VE motor, no aftermarket cams, basic chip - no serious tuning. Waaaaay more whp than my DE, although he has not dyno'd his car.

I've *probably* got about 135-140'ish whp. Jumping up to 180'ish whp should put a big-ass grin on my face for quite a while.
