easy, stock de with moddified secondaries owned all worked ve's at our drag day. from memory most de's were beating the ve's down the 1/4

only one has gone quicker but conditions (different year) were different
1/4 mile times
the stock de 14.8s
the big worked ve 14.66s

VE's will only be good on dyno's and very very long straights where they can get there rev's right up

180whp in a VE is nothing. If you want a 180 whp car you might as well build a DE like Kojima did for less money than a VE.
I make 160whp on 10* timing and 171whp at 19* timing with a DE with S4 cams and bolt ons.
Im trying to aim for at least 215whp on the VE. Then ill add nitrous on top of that.

A DE on nitrous is pretty damn quick and a different story. Not fast, just quick when you want it. And quick is what you need in a race. Ive given 3 VE'd and 3 DET (T25 and T28) powered cars ass whoopings. However, I was on the bottle for all those runs.

Now when it comes to all motor against all motor.....
VE OWNS the DE on ANY day in a straight line. Period. End of story.

A Naturally Aspirated cammed DE is a joke nowadays.

i'm dead serious, these are p11 and p10 bodies if that makes a difference. here ve only owns the the dyno aka peak power

well weight makes a big diff thats for sure.. but still a swapped p10 vs a stock p10 with a header the ve should still win
