But IMHO depending on where you live, how you drive and weather, etc. I still see the water issue as overstated. I've been caught out with torrential downpours, standing water over the road, my best guess is somewhere around 16-20" depth you'd start having to be concerned about sucking up the Fish...and you can always install the lock, AEM still sells them for about $30 IIRC.

Down here in So Fla when it pours hard the streets get minor sinkholes alot, it's really common where there is coomon 18wheeler traffic(which is just about everywhere). I drive a Colorado everyday for work and I run into these minor sinkholes evryday after it rains, I guess it's due to soft earth/limestone on which the city is built. For this same reason once I install my cai I will be installing an AEM bypass(iirc) so it wont suck up any water. I just don't know if it will affect power output.

Yeah a bypass would have been nice, at that time when it happened I was cruising down the street with poor lighting, It was not raining when it happened, It looked like a underground piping had broken and the street gave way I did not see it, My right tire went into the hole and from there the car steered hard right, the water was up to the top of the bumper.

Your right but, they would need to tune the A/F because it is going to change, best bet would be to have a wideband and APEX istalled for adjustments

I recently switched my 3" velocity stack for a 3" to 4" 45ยบ connector with a 4" Blox Stack and the mixture has changed some, I migth be testing this on the track on Friday if it doesn't rain

^^^Very nice setup.

I'm not saying that the a/f ration wouldn't change, it most definately would. But even without adjustments there was a 1 1/2 difference from addind a cai on one car and adding a wai on the other. I can only imagine if the a/f ratios were tuned.

Well it has been proven to me first hand that a cai > wai all day everyday ecept when there is a monsoon.

i think im going to try to make something that will run all the way to the front of the bumper in front of the radiator.. while racing that would be the best spot to have it.. question is would that be TOO long?? hmm..

I'll admit before I post that I didn't read through 7 pages, lol.

Has anyone tried running an intake say in the bumper or where the headlight belongs with a velocity stack on the end? I wasn't sure if this would effect the MAF and cause lean conditions. I planned on trying this out at the track versus a WAI/CAI setup once I relocate my battery.

I did it on Carlos car and the car didn't like it.The afr changed a bit but I realy don't remember how since it's been a while

The problem with WAI is, warm air. The problem with CAI is long pipes and bends that cause turbulence in the flow.

Side by side CAI will still win because it is able to deliver colder denser air. That means more air molecules to burn with the fuel.

The best setup, besides ram air (not practical), will be a WAI sectioned off and with a cold air source to it. You will have your mid range power and top end of a CAI.

This is true also, my testing were done on stock Ecu with stock afr, we saw the car ran better with added fuel.
When I tried a cai on my car after tuning for wai, the car felt it was running lean. I tried it at the track with results wai car would trap a high 101 mph, cai installed it would trap 99 mph, the 1/8 time suffered also

That's what Im going to be testing at the track. And because the Apex has two settings (File 1,2), I'll use one of the apex setting for the setup as it is rigth now and one without the headlight
