then the motor got thirsty one day and I basically drove into what looked like a lake and the motor took a big gulp.ftl

i put my cai on in place of my po charger....and up top..it sorta feels like it pulls a lil more....plus with the outlaw im spacers the air should be really colder....'

but it might be in my head cuz i hear the intake alot more now......

cai is stayimg on.....

you gotta be retarded to drive tgru a puddle thats deep enough to do damage.....

Not retarded smarty, it was a dark streetthat had a massive water leak and the street had sank, I did not have my garmin fish finder to warn me. So get the facts straight before you insult someone

I mean from the dyno results posted earlier not someones opinion.

don't know if you're talking to me but, in the 100+ dyno pulls my old de and ve motors underwent, better results were obtained with the cai installed.
once my new built ve is installed and broken in, it'll be back to the dyno for tuning. i'll try the cai vs wai again and post the results. honestly, i have no reason to believe the results will be any different than before.

Dyno's vary at times. Best way to test is take it to a strip* and test it out against a test subject.

if he keeps the hood closed for the runs the results will be very evident.

When I had the stock intake I could make it to 109, with my wai the top speed was about 105, 106. But the wai felt better on the road (more torque) but more than likely, it was just me gassin it all the time to hear it resonate lol

(B13 Ga16 btw)

From the time when I installed the CAI (going from a WAI) the car just rocks. CAI all the way. Since all my dyno's on the current motor were with CAI cannot compare really, but 90 deg+ summertime track time, really showed its benefits. Underhood temps in 140 deg plus range but he air at the end of the CAI was +10 F on avg above ambient. When ambient is in the 90's, I'd see a 40-50 deg difference at the intake down in my fender after running 5500-7500 rpm nearly flat out for 30-60 minutes. Coolant temps were only in the ~180 deg F range, has a big Koyo up front, UD UR pulley on the water pump.

Not very scientific but TT results showed the power I'd see on the dyno was being put to good use. Pulling significantly cooler air (it does warm up ~10 deg near the TB section) plus there is more at work there, throttle response is right now, and pickup to peak power in 2nd and 3rd was noticeably faster.

Butt dynos may tell rice lies, but the delta in lap times on a hot day between people I ran against repeatedly in 2009, cold days not so much, hot days I would put some serious gap on them. Not that many people run the full CAI for dual use cars, afraid of the water bogeyman I guess (I've driven for hours in torrential downpours, through standing water, never a problem - you really have to get into water up to the top of the wheel to start pulling it up the intake).

With the VE's better head flow I can only think with the right tuning it's only going to be better. What I find really strange is people running a stock ECU then testing Stock, WAI, CAI - no sh*t you won't see much difference if any, not with the conservative tune and timing pull-back of a stock ECU at you approach higher revs. That's a non-comparison test.

ROTFL (not for your misfortune) but the "Garmin Fish Finder". Yes you can run into surprises. I just don't drive anywhere in my region (hilly and rural mostly) where that's an issue but surely have seen that in AZ, FL, etc. It def can happen but it does take some pretty deep water from at least what I've seen so far. But IMHO depending on where you live, how you drive and weather, etc. I still see the water issue as overstated. I've been caught out with torrential downpours, standing water over the road, my best guess is somewhere around 16-20" depth you'd start having to be concerned about sucking up the Fish...and you can always install the lock, AEM still sells them for about $30 IIRC.
