VVL activation points have nothing to do with peak power.

the tuner didnt raise my rev limit and it was still making power N1 cams and ASP header coming shortly though, then back up for a remap and raised rev limit

If say I am drag racing, wouldnt it be best to have the motor on high cams as early as possible? In any case once you pass the switch point in 1st gear you stay in high cams anyways for the 1320.

I even know of a guy setting up an ve and plans to drive it on high cams only.

Thanks.

Peace

i really dont understand this at all..

vvl is the best of both worlds, low and performance and high end power. the high cams are great for top end but if you ever fall below the switchover point your low cam is there to IMPROVE UPON the power the high cam WOULD be making. now in any case wouldnt you want the most power possible? well yea, thats why you have the cams switch where they do, when the high cam actually starts to make more power then the low cams... why would you lower it ever, what good would that do?

there is nothing to gain by switching them lower.. so why would you do it, even in a race situation.

If your friend wants to ride high cam everywhere he should have built a de with some c series jwt cams.its not that hard to realize the camswitch rpm affects your powerband not peak. Remember the honda b16 which had 20 more hp than an srde and you were still able to beat it because of your usable powerband? same concept. This is why you can't use someone elses settings. See what works with your motor and go from there. Switch your cams too early or late and you'll have a b16 powerband.

my car is dd so it wouldnt b practical to have it on high cams + the fuel consumption - i couldnt afford.

the lowest i would go is 4600. plans to set it on the dyno. 5100 made best power with my previous set up.

the person do the build is not my friend really. saw it on :: TriniTuner.com v2.0 ::

peace
