Car dies when i disconnect TPS
I'm trying to set the timing on my car to 15* since the swap and i tried disconnecting the tps and the car just stalls. my idle is set at 850-900. i didnt have this problem a couple of days ago when i had the g20 ecu and DE MAF. now i got the Calum basic and a N60 MAF. I tried the g20 ecu again, with the same results. Could it be the MAF? it runs fine i was just trying to set the base timing because i think last time the gun i was using was bad and advanced it too much, causing it to ping when in a higher gear under load. any suggestions? TIA

just try raising your idle. spin the idle screw out almost all the way. start the car unplug the tps and adjust from there...

Bumping this because I am having this problem.
Tried to check my base timing.
The car dies when the tps is disconnected.

Did you ever find the problem?

my idle is set at 1100rpm. I tried to get it lower today, but the car doesn't seem to like it very much. I tried re-timing and doing the raindance to get into timing mode so I could adjust the idle. When I plugged the TPS in the engine would idle at 800, but randomly jump up to 1100 and drop again. Then it got into one of its fits of jumping idle. I just set the idle back at 1100 and it runs and idles perfectly there.

Something tells me I need to get the consult hooked up and set it into timing mode with that.

Plug up the iacv an adjust idle with the TB
