Re-using factory head bolts?
Is it safe to re-use the factory head bolts? If so, how often can they be re-used?

And if re-using them, do you follow the exact factory torque specs and tightening procedures? I've head you torque them less when re-using??

I wouldn't chance it when the bolts are like $12 for the set, jus not worth the "you never know" factor IMO.

Ordering some DE ones from Gregv. $34 for the set.

He checked and said the new part number for these is 53J01. previously 53J00. He also mentioned that he was under the impression they were always the same.

Wont' know if they have the longer thread or the shorter thread until they arive in 3 weeks time.

Greg is correct.
Head bolts 11056 are shared between all VE family, most SR18/20DE and RWD DET
Washers are shared even in more engines.
Stock was 11058-16A00 but there is also 11058-16A01 which seems an upgrade although it doesn't quite specify it.
Bolts thread is a bit more than 1/3 of the bolt length.
I think it could be safe to reuse for 1-2 times but if you want to feel safer...
