Thread: Headers Dyno Comparison Thread

The primaries are 2", merging to a 2.5 secondary. As far as the collectors, the first one merges to a max of about 2.5" OD going to a 2". The second goes from a 3" max OD to a 2.5" with a flare. I am not too sure if going with a 3" secondary will help me out but I am going to give it a shot and see what happens within the next few weeks. Currently I am running a 2.5" exhaust, no cat with a 2.5" resonator and a 2.5" muffler. For both runs I was running on a chipped VE ecu running on a base tune with timing set to 0. Right now I think the custom header flows more than the motor is tuned to. All I could mess with was A/F, though making the most power with the SSAC and the custom header were identical A/F's. I have been thinking on dynoing the car straight off the primaries to see if it would benefit from even more breathing. Though personally if you asked me, this header and even with the 2.5” “cat” back, I think it is a matter of playing with the burned chip’s ecu base map timing. Either way, since the SSAC’s chip was not re-burned just like now on the new header, I will continue to see if it would benefit from any more exhaust flow before altering the ecu. Anyway, with more of us experimenting on what our motors like the most, the more well off we will be as a team

both of your header runs say "std" did you run both headers on the same day? If not you may want to get "sae" numbers to truely compare both runs

I did not run both headers on the same day. Other then the header, the setup was the same and the SSAC had the best conditions. Though from a previous responce in a thread, here are the conditions I posted between the new header and SSAC...

"I just found the dyno for the SSAC was not close to 30deg cooler temps than the new header. I was confused with a similar dyno of the SSAC during winter. The SSAC (which was the highest for the ssac) dyno I posted was within 1deg of the new header. Though the main difference I see is the atmospheric pressure drop between the two, though maybe the humidity difference.

SSAC: 77.68 deg F, 29.19 in-HG, Humidity 32%
New Header: 78.48 deg F, 29.11 in-HG, Humidity 47%
Both at Atlantas 1000ft altitutude

I used a dyno correction calculator (Relative Horsepower Calculator) and came up with:

Calculated Relative Horsepower To Rated

SSAC 94.4%
New Header 93.4%

So its a 1% difference between the weather? So I am guessing that amounts to about 2whp extra over the SSAC that the new header makes than the dyno comparison I posted. Next time I go to the shop, I'll get them to compare both SAE corrected, but I am guessing around 2whp difference. I might be wrong, let me know what yall think."

So what can we conclude??

They told me it was around $650 without coating.

Thats a real good price.The price is low because they build their own 4-1 merge collectors.If it was a burns the price will be over 1000.

Clears the AC lines. Looks like 2.5" downpipe. Good price, wonder how much R&D went into the header.
