IDK, I've had my motor up to 8500 on numerous occasions, DET block, VE pump/spacer/Gspec Pulley and never had these specific issues. I had issues only when using a VE pump with a DE spacer (noobitis), and the pulley would rub against the timing cover. Greg's VE spacer fixed this issue. This setup was completed around July/August 2008...

Hopefully some more investigation yields a point of failure. Like I said, I've never had this issue and run the same combination you did. I seriously don't think that 500rpm would make that much of a difference when you're already above 8Krpm.

Good luck! Rebuild it and go bigger

Yes the ati is avalible itworks on VE DE and DET's. Make sure you get the street pulley not the race .Jr has one , so does a few members but i dont know if they want me to mention it .

Sorry to hear the loss,man that hurts.

I dont rev over 8000,but the one part I decided to stay away from on my VE build was the pullies.
I even posted a thread about it,and it seems still up in the air for debate.Seems to be split 50/50 on who thinks they do damage and who says they dont.Seems like there really is no way to "prove" that the pulley caused a failure.
I just decided to lose a few ponies and save a few dollars.Hopefully it will pay off in the long run with longer engine life.

Either way this is my opinion,I just wanted to comment.
Payu...dont give up on us.Build it bigger and stronger.You have been an inspiration to me with your builds.I always love to see people keeping our old cars out there shocking people.and kicking butt on the track.

The problem its not the white paint the problem is that the part of the pulley that has the timing marks will turn over the other part of the pulley were there its rubber on the pulley so when you check your timing you wont see them unless you turn the knob of your timing light to 40deg jejeje....

You motor dint last too long either an you were making less HP/Torque than me and may be some of the times it went pass 9,000rpms but just a few times on 1st and 2nd gear way too fast...

I dont know I cant afford to keep breaking parts....

Thanks for the input Kesi. I know that a few people were in the works of having them made. I never knew it was completed.

Now it makes sense.


:Note to self: Set timing once on the OEM pully and never adjust timing again once the car is tuned...

My point of failure wasn't related to a pulley issue. My chain oil squirter popped out of the block I have already checked the bottom end over and everything's minty fresh. Never hit 0 psi, just REALLY LOW (like 10) psi

Not sure what your torque figures were, but I was only making 30whp less than you.

As I said though, I'm curious to see if there's another point of failure. Build it bigger! Cost shouldn't put you out of having a hobby.
