looks like an over rev or mis shift to me.. heard about that happening with aftermarket crank pullys..

I have always been afraid of aftermarket pulleys, someone explain this in technical terms

sorry about the loss man

For those of us with an untrained eye, can someone please explain what happened here? I don't see the ruined motor? I'm only seeing a slightly damaged oil seal and a missing locating pin on the crank?

@ Payu is this a VE crank or DE crank with spacer?

The pics are not very clear but the oil pump its cracked around the oil seal this made the oil pressure go to zero.... and the engine stalled with zero oil pressure after a 9,000 RPM pass... in third gear.... with about 440whp this were on low boost...
This was DE crank with VE spacer VE oil pump and G Spec VVL pulley...
Why not rev the engine that high if it still making power up there....
This ruined the head, valve train crank, rods, oil pump etc..

Okay I see it now. Sorry to hear man. I know how it sucks to loose a motor. But that's how a new build begins. Unfortunate nontheless.

Good luck man.

ps: Was it a 4CW or 8CW crank?

@ the guy who suggested the Ati damper, what benefit will such a damper have over a stock pulley? It looks the same size, weighs 5.7lbs which I think is more than a stock pulley, and it costs $450+? And the stock pulley also has a damper afaik.

Not stabbing at you, just curious..

Payu, when you installed the VE crank pulley spacer, was it a circle shape with a key way cut out of it, or did it have two additional notches cut out of the circle to make it match the shape of the oil pump drive itself?

This is an important question.

The VE crank pulley spacer was an OEM part it only has one key way cut on it I dont know of anything else... This was on a 8CW crank...
I used to have the OEM VE crank pulley without problems on the same crank, spacer, oil pump setup without problems.. I replaced it because I could no longer read the timing marks on the pulley and this will happened again even on a new pulley... My fiends SR20VE-T has been through 2 stock pulleys with the same problem but he doesnt mess with the timing as much as I do so he left it that way..

Payu would an oil pressure gauge have allowed you to catch this problem before it killed the motor or was it a pretty instantaneous thing?
