Lets not get into tuning being involved in the testing, then we would be opening another pandora box.

Dude the ssac header isn't a horrible header. Yeah it may be cheap and not the beat flowing, but Just because it isn't a 1000 dollar one doesn't mean you won't gain any hp with it. I plan to use it for the time being and am expectng some very good numbers. I have seen dyno's in the high 190's with a ssac header.

Most of the hp is found in the tune. Get a good tune and a good set of cams plus a "decent" header, exhaust combo and your good to go! I think also that the intake manifold is probably more important then the header, but that has yet to be found out yet.........

i upgraded exhaust and header, but i feel the bottle neck is the intake.
Im a couple of hundred bucks away from being able to afford to get my intake built.

this is where you will lose most people
kelford and franklin cams need to be at least shimmed but honestly they need to be degreed as well (before and after shimming) the spec cards don't mean a damn thing if your car isn't shimmed to spec.

I really would like to test these cams. I want to drop them in the VET and see what happens. I should have the opportunity to test some cams in the near future when some funds are freed up. The thought of 50whp on the same boost is very tempting. And the fact you can rev the N1 to 9K on the stock springs is nice too

With a quick spooling turbo and ability to make tons of top end the powerband could be really impressive. JPSR20DET will be testing cams for his VE-T and I can't wait to see his results.

If I were making a copy of a cam I would try to make everything just like the copy, including centerline... So I am expecting these cams to be good. I still don't know why nobody isn't up for sharing the results of the cams. These are the cams I want and regardless of drama I am going to post up before/after results regardless of power gains. Even if I lose power, at least we will all know.

Buy them. Test them. Share with the community. Just don't complain when somebody is actually making an effort. There are two kinds of people, those who say they will, and the people who do it. Who do you wanna be? Just take out the credit card, buy, install, dyno, then get back to us.

I would do it right now but I don't have a credit card. And I have some really really easy access to a dyno. I am at the shop every day.

The dyno sheets we have aren't much use as are on 2 different cars. If I had N1s already in my car (and wasn't going for every last bit of power) I would leave them in & spend the money on something else. If I was in the market for cams right now for an unopened block & hadn't purchased any I would buy the Franklin 20V/N1 over the N1.

Although... NocabiwikSMX ran Franklin Stage 2s on an unopened block using a basic header & 2.5" exhaust & made 130wkw on our normal dyno. No other unopened 20VE block ever beat those numbers, the best N1 cammed motors with similar bolt-ons made about 126wkw.

EVLNXR dropped Franklin Stage 4s into his 20V & revved them to over 9K without shimming or changing springs, Amdeman also didn't shim his FS4 engine, nor the NocabiwikSMX with his stage 2s & nor did Punkoutnz on his original FS4 build. All this talk of Franklin cams being lower quality is BS, all aftermarket VE cams need shimming if you want the clearances perfect, be they Kelford or Franklin or whatever. My Kelfords are no better build quality than my Franklins were, both are well made but they not a factory part. I have my cams degreed & shimmed but you don't have to if the extra power isn't worth the time & money to you.

Shimming should be even less of an issue if the factory base circles are used, which AFAIK Franklin's now do. This should make the purchasing of these cams even less of an issue for those who prefer to do things with half of their bum.

FWIW, here's the base circle measurements (in mm) I took from Clint's motor, his old (ex-Amdeman) FS4's, and my 20VE and VET cams:

Cam . . . . . . . Low . . . . High
SR20VE . . . . 32.18 . . . 32.16
SR20VET . . . 32.04 . . . 32.17
Kelford 184C. 31.57 . . . 31.78
Franklin S4 . . 32.77 . . . 32.29

Anyway, the thought of these cams (or even better, FS2's) in the VET with a GT30-series turbo makes me moist
Coheed / JPsr20: If *someone* was to approach Franklin's and ask them to make a turbo VE cam to suit a large frame turbo application, what specs would you like to see?

^Bold Black - Dude in the bold I already said. Read my other post in this thread again.

^Bold Red - I never said that the SSAC is a horrible header. If I did, please find it. I have two of them in my position right now. Also bringing up that price is irrelavant. That had NOTHING to do with the comment I made of the ASP header out peforming it.

Dude, relax this wasn't meant for you I just posted it for everyone, so they can see they don't need a 700+ plus header, NOW I AM NOT SAYING I DON"T WANT ONE BECAUSE I REALLY REALLY DO, but would rather buy nitrous and run mid to low 12's thats all.

Oh and about cams I will stick with 16ve's or N1's until I see some other cams that are alot better.

^I am relaxed dude, no need to tell me to be so. If it wasn't meant for me, then don't quote my post and try to pin point what I said using the word dude towards me. . I even put a smiley in my reply so that it would lighten up my next post. Anyway, I have something in the works and I'll be making some phone calls at lunch. You do you, and I'll do me. I was just stating facts. That didn't mean don't buy a SSAC header. Happy modding everybody. I know I will .
