Want to raise compression in sr20ve??
I have plans to eventually raise the compression in my sr20ve. My original idea was just to swap in some sr16ve pistons. Now this from what I read would raise my compression to 12:1 or something close to that right? If this is right will pump gas(93) be ok for this?
My next idea was to just get it bored out ( 90mm) along with some darton sleeves and use some 12.5:1 cp pistons and call it a day?? Now what would that raise my cc's to? And how much hp would i net by either one of these ideas? Along with the best available VE cams at the time( n1's at this time )

All of this would be tuned properly of course.

thanks

SR20DE 9.5:1 Pistons (on DE Block) with VE head swapped = 10.3:1 or so...+0.8CR
So if SR16VE pistons in DE is 11.7:1, then SR16VE in SR20VE = 12.5:1 (+0.8CR)

SR16VE N1 pistons should give a more streetable CR, maybe 12:1?

90mm bore is 2188cc

Thanks man. Thats what I thought, but wanted conformation. now I just have to figure which way i want to go. Since I already have 3 sr16ve pistons I might just go that route. So its simple as jsut swapping pistons? Nothing else involved? I mean besides the obvious stuff.

notch for oil squirters i think

if your putting sr16ve pistons in a sr20ve motor, your going to get a higher comp ratio then 12.5:1. You should get around 13.X:1 not a hundred percent on the exact number but i know its in the 13's. So if you want a streetable car with those pistons your going to have to shave for the oil squirters on the bottom of the piston and also either shave the tops of the pistons, get a bigger head gasket, or make deeper valve reliefs to bring down the compression ratio.

So are we saying N1 pistons are the best as far as pistons you can use in a daily driver compression wise. Can you run N1s in a sr20ve on 93 octane and if so what compression does this come out too.

They have tried to mathematically calculate compression of SR16VE pistons in SR20VE stroke and came out with various 13.2:1, 12.5:1, etc

It is said that SR16VE pistons in SR20DE is 11.7:1. SR20VE Pistons are very much like DE pistons with slight valve notches and SR20VE stock compression is 10.3:1, roughly +0.8:1 CR

So 11.7:1 + 0.8:1 = 12.5:1 or so

Guys in PR are doing this combo and dont blow up, and it is hotter than in most US places... To be more conservative maybe SR16VE N1 are a better option. and like you said, I would get a bigger head gasket and lower it to something around 11.5 - 11.8:1 to be safer. But hey if you have a Calum then you can tune it, no need to fear these CR

what if you have 11:1 in a de and drop those pistons in a VE what would the comp be? would it raise do to the head?

It will be from 11:9 to 12:1.
