Thread: motor with no oil

Mine did this too...when I moved it from one car to the other.
Engine was removed from one car and reinstalled within a 2 week period.It took 5qts before it showed on the dipstick.I know this because I had a 5 qt jug of Mobil1,and was like wtf I sarted with 3.5 quarts ,went for a test drive,and pulled the dipstick....nothing.
Added a half a quart....nothing,and another half...still nothing .It actuall took more than 5 quarts to show normal on the stick!!!
I attributed it to the motor being tilted enough to get more oil out of it.I had pulled the drain plug a couple times along the way and oil always came out.

I just changed the oil for the first time since and it only took the usual 3.5 qts ....dunno
I dont have any leaks or smokeage,either.

I am really thinking there is a place in the VE that traps oil or something(other than the baffle in the pan)

My ve also had a oil issue, but mine ended up being a bad oil pan , which was replaced and now it seems to be holding fine.......I think.

Perhaps these engines are burning a bit of oil from sitting for so long?

did you take the drain plug to confirm that it doesn't have any oil ?

and theres no indication of smoking? also did he take off the greddy or change the tune?

no smoke.....well nothing that should cause the car to loose that in such a short period a time..... same tune

mine did the same no smoke no smells nothing.... once it had its initial thirst quenching 4 littres it wsa topped up and i have checjked it every day for the last few months not a drop gone..

as someone else said i think the VE holds oil somewhere that once filled takes a long time to drain back..

thor have you topped it up? has it lost any more?

i wonder if the vvl solenoid stuff holds a little extra oil or something? i bet the guys goin rwd ve with the relocation blocks have to use a little more oil.. i know by friends 280zx turbo with the oil cooler holds more then a 280zx turbo with no oil cooler
