piston clearances
i have read a lot of different info regarding piston clearances with de pistons and ve head.

anyway i am thinking of running sr16ve cams on my build but currently have cp 8.5:1 dished det pistons in there (so will end up with around 9.3:1ish). will i have any probs with clearance issues? i dont really want to be bending valves

the other one i want to ask about is sr16ve pistons with the 2l crank, can these be run untouched on a engine without oil squirters, or do the valve reliefs have to be cut? I obviously want high comp 13.5:1. I will most likely run 16ve cams as well, but hypothetically could i run n1's?

If you dont have oil squirters then you dont need to do anything to them.

The valve reliefs dont need to be cut on SR16VE pistons if you want 13.5 to 1 compression. The SR16VE psiton actually has the deepest valve releifs of all the VE pistons.

The corner of the top of the crown of the DET piston might touch the valve. I say it will but I am not 100% sure. If it does not touch it will be dam close.

yeah thought i would be cool with the 16ve pistons, just thought i would double check

i really did not want to hear what i heard about the 16ve cams...you are confirming what i was already thinking as i thought it might be close, am kind of hoping the dish on the cp piston gives a little more clearance than a standard item. I could always set up the gears to run -5, +5 but it would hamper power a bit and is a less than ideal set up. I do not think i will run into any problems with the 20v cams due to less overlap.

The dish is not where the problem is. The problem of valve touching could be right around the top outer edge of the piston as the VE piston has the valve releif right to the edge of the VE piston.

i thought this would need to be checked out....
i have DET JE pistons standard with valve reliefs and i am a little worried aswell when the ve head go's on the det block!...
