Thats cause ssac's are mass produced not made by one man in his workshop. You get what you pay for.
For 90% of what people want from their motors the ssac are perfect but when its not thats when people want something better like a snickers header or other custom specc'd header. Simple as that.

Man I can't believe how off topic this thread got.

Anyway I'm interested to see how the above header dynos, 2" primaries are pretty big. should make some wicked top end.

Not always.
My $1500AU, 'budget' headers with heat coating performed the same as my $400AU stainless mass manufacturered headers.

i'm also interested to see how these go.

Too bad I couldn't just send you guys over to this thread to discuss the Chinese knock-off issue and keep this thread clear of that stuff. I can't because it's locked.

ssac doesn't make any 4-1 header for the sr20's

sound like someone has the buyers remorse.

People can say you get what you pay for and all that, in this case you pay for a hand built header, simple! It has all the r&d in it that snickers has put in. This same header can be mass produced for a lot cheaper.

i saw your dyno and there was more mid range than the x force item you had on there before, unfortunately for you x force actually make pretty good cheap stuff, due to their manufacturing process so the difference was not as big as those running ssac and the likes.

well, a large investment for little gain, thats going to happen to some extent.
Wether the header actually gained anything is debatable, the midrange gains could have come from the exhaust or the change of VVL points, who knows.

All I was referring to was that paying more doesnt nessercarily mean that your going to make more power, nor does something handbuilt automatically mean that its going to be better produced than a mass made item.

I agree. I could of got coilovers instead of my header and hope for better numbers than my previous 2.5 ssac. If tomorrows weather permits, I'll dyno mine. I might make more power and I might not. Its a gamble. If I dont, than I will be sad about what else I could of used the money for. But I made the decision to shed out the bills, so if it fails me, than I failed my self. In the end, its life. You live and learn.

Exactly, not like I'm bagging out the header, this is what development is about.
Who knows, its possible the bottleneck is in another area (such as the intake, which im sorting soon), and snickers header will come into its own then

It is very possible that you will see improvement with the 4-1 once you do intake and head work. It made a huge difference on the top end for me.
