Thread: vvl swap question

yeah on the old forum (1.6 to 2.0 swap says you can use the x-member IF its a 5sp.

got the VE yesterday and man it looks clean!!! pics to come later today!!!

got the starter out of the VE
ok doing some research on both forums found out this about the starters:
here is mine out of the VE

the only difference is the ground cable hookup. on the VE is a jack and on the DE is a plug, i can fix that easily.
anyways any inputs?

same number of teeth on the pinion? If everything else is the same it should work.

Looks like it should work to me. +1 on squirlz question about same number of teeth. I would just assume they are the same. My starter is out of the car right now if you want me to count though.

that would be awesome Ben, that way i can count mine's teeth. i just don't want to be set back another $150-200 on this swap.

i got a starter that i'll sell for 25 bux u pay shipping, it works good.. no idea on its age.. the ground wire could use some tape or maybe a whole new wire but no biggy really.. if ur interested i can take pics an such... but it looks like your ve starter will work so u should be ok.. let us know tho cause i got one of those too an i was just gonna ditch it but maybe not now lol
