yeah i actually know how to use a rwd sr20 box bell housing on a fwd. I have one here to mod as well. Not that much modding needs to be done. then ill mate a rb20 or rb30 box to it. I wont start that till i have decided what path to follow. I researched that part a bit because i knew the rwd tranny wont bolt up, where i was under the missguided info that the blocks have rwd mounting points on them. In fact was very much considering the adapter plate you have too. Damn glad i didn't buy that now!

had a look at it today it shouldn't be too hard to make up some custom mounts to mount it in rwd format. There are 3 holes on each side i can use.

However i do tend to agree a little with the whole slap it all into a rwd. Thing is i actually paid a fair bit more for a 16ve as i plan on putting in a de crank anyway matched to the 16ve pistons and some e85 to make it all run nice. So in many ways it would be easier to start with the rwd block, but in a lot of ways it isnt. I am about 50/50 right now.

things for rwd block:
simpler from a fitment point of veiw
i need to buy a crank anyway
ill end up with a fresh motor

its going into a corolla anyway so there will be some customization whichever way i go

things against:
if i go rwd block ill want new rings and a hone job, then ill think about all new gaskets and seals and then when i start thinking like that the snowball grows, and i have been down that track before. It will end up costing me a lot more than expected and take triple the time to build. Hell the engine already cost me $700 more than quoted. Also the rings the the 16ve pistons are quite expensive last time i looked

also dont worry about being a c0ck, takes a bit more than that to bother me and like it when people speak there mind What problems did you have with the box adapter?

If I remember correctly it wasn't the adapter that was the problem but just a few little things relating to the motor itself. Like the thermo stat housing is on the back of the motor with that pipe running under the IM. I'm not sure what else. 2000gtx will hopefully be able to fill you in.
I didn't go the whole fwd motor route so i'm not entirely sure I looked at the info available and decided to go the rwd route. But if you've done that all before you'll know whats involved there
Surely if your stripping the motor down to put in the 20 crank it wouldn't be much more expensive to put it all in a rwd block? you'll have to do most the things you said anyway
