I said the VE heads will do 330 cfm (@ .500" of course) with a lot of work, and daxx is the reason I had that number in my head, because that's what he did.

I didn't say you were wrong to assume thats possible, but you were off with the low port numbers.

Anyway back on topic Ben. Do you agree, with my previous suggestions on making the power he wants?

^You mean this post for the thread maker? Does he have the money? Balls? Time? Lets ask him. Don't worry, we'll wait

I'm sure he doesn't. I don't expect him to. People who have the money or time don't usually ask on an internet forum.

That is a basic recipe for NA power. On a small displacement motor you need flow and rev's.

Edit: He said for less than $4000USD. I could do it for much less, but I can do all of the fabrication myself.

For the OP:
Custom Exhuast Manifold : $1200
Standalone : $1400
Headwork and valvesprings : $1300

Thats right under his target.

Stock is 240 cfm, you don't think 250-275 is happening with head work?

Yah, you're going to need high compression, custom or worked intake manifold and great header, head work is a given and makes thing's easier. Standalone is nice, and helps get rid of the power destroying MAF if nothing else.
I don't think 11k revs are necessary. 9k would be fine.

I was actually going to say, if you take Miko's SR23VE engine and duplicate it with 2 liters you'd probably be 95% of the way there for a lot cheaper than you'd expect. Ditch one more mechanical accessory than Dre and go with an electric water pump. So with no power steering pump, high comp, decent manifold and cams and that gigantic 4" intake piping and throttle body mated to a good header I bet you make 245 WHP or more easily. I obviously think Dre's motor is capable of much more than that with no problems (being 2.3L and all).

A lot of my data indicates the lowports are in that range stock.

I don't see you making 143 lb-ft of torque at 9k RPM, but I guess anything is possible.
