took the saloon to the 1/4 :(
so i took the almera SR16VE to a local 1/4 track first time i have run this car.

best time was a 16.2 Was seriously disapointed! i was hoping for a 15.5 atleast..

fastest time was 16.2 @ 86MPH my terminal speeds were matching that of the other almera GTi's but they were getting 15's

just want some advice looking at it from my angle it was just weight that was causing the slow times.. the problem was getting the car moving.. had full interior and 3/4 tank of gas..

i swapped the 17's for 15's with brand new 195/45/15 toyo T1-R's there seriously undersized i was hoping to gain some acceleration as i have the longer GTi gearbox rather than the VZ-R box..

anyway videos :-

first run nothing but spin

YouTube - almera SR16VE saloon at york raceway..

second run..

bogged but got the fastest time..

any thoughts?

Street tires sux for drag. Get some serious semislicks or something. Some 15" wrapped in 205/50 r15 or bigger would help. Did you done drag in 3rd or 4th gear?
And whats the weight? 1100-1200kg?

duno about wind direct was variable all day..

mods on the car are just a SSautochrome manifold standard cat then a straight 2.25" pipe from the cat to the side.. and an intake

standard SR16VE ecu with the exhaust cam kicking in with the intake at 5600RPM

Gearbox is an almera GTi N15 not the VZR box

i was finishing the drag at the rev limit in 3rd gear 8200RPM ish wasw just ready for shifting into 4th..

weight im guessing is around 1200KG's with the fuel ect that was in the car..

i think iot needs a better clutcha s the cheapo one on there kept slipping i did my best launch on my last run but the clutch slipped in both second and 3rd gear and i still ran a 16.7...

i think less weight better tyres and a better clutch will see me well on the way.. but just so much money!

looking at the flag looks like the wind is blowing at an angle down the track so it will hamper your 1/4mile times aswell

Going to the drags put in just enough fuel to do about 10 runs. Remove all loose items such as rear seat, sparewheel etc. Get your clutch sorted and have the correct tyre pressures and you will see 15.5's with your setup.
Hitting the rev limit in 3rd gear also should nett you about 94 MPH

sounds like someone bouncing off the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd, on the first run.
then only in 1st on the second run. was that you?
